First Presbyterian Church

Amos was a prophet from the Southern Kingdom of Israel, prophesying against the Northern Kingdom of Israel during the 750’s BC. He was called to pronounce judgement upon Israel for their religious apostasy and social injustice. In this prophetic capacity, Amos serves as a Christ figure, preaching against idolatry and injustice all the while calling the people of God back to their first love.
